Jaya Gupta, E-RYT 500, SYT Structural Yoga Therapist
Jaya Gupta was born and raised in India. She has been practicing yoga for more than 40 years, after initially learning it from her father in India at the age of six.
Jaya studied at the University of Michigan, NJIT and MIT and worked for a large corporation as an IT professional for over 20 years. In 2003, her life was transformed when she used yoga to heal herself after an accident. That faith in yoga led her to the Integral Yoga Institute (also known as Yogaville), in Buckingham, VA, where she received a certification as an Integral Yoga Instructor. In 2005, she also received her certification in the scientifically proven Yoga of the Heart program with Nischala Joy Devi, director of Dr. Dean Ornish's program for reversing Heart disease. Most recently, in 2008, Jaya completed Structural and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy training, which entailed 13 months of training under Mukunda Stiles, the father of Structural and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy. This therapy training has transformed her life and Yoga has become her passion.
Jaya is a Yoga Alliance registered RYT 500 Integral Yoga teacher and Structural and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist.
Since 2003, Jaya has taught Basic, Gentle/Chair, and Yoga for Stress Management as well as Yoga for back, neck or shoulder pain at the local hospital in Oak Hill, VA and the Sunrise Assisted Living facility, spas, schools, community centers, and to private clients as young as 5 and as old as 94.
